Halfway!

Sunday- what a great day today. The presence of the Lord was so awesome today!  I know that when we set our hearts on pilgrimage, the Lord rewards us!  He said He would go with us and He is.

We went to Jason's Deli (a DF's dream salad bar) with some friends today and we talked about how that there are hard days, but it's harder to believe that we've already been going 11 days.  We also talked about how it seems that it's easier to "hear" the voice of the Lord during this time. Are you finding the voice of the Lord clearer?

Did Joni tell you last week that when I was praying for the church, I felt like the Holy Spirit was saying that 2009 is "the year of the open door, and we will wait no more!" ? Praise God. This is a year of fulfillment for the church. We are so excited! Shea and I are excited to join with you on this fast- however hard it has been on the flesh, it's STILL worth it to dedicate the first of the year to the Lord so He can bless the rest!

I agree, Amen!! There are lots of things we have found to be helpful. Soup!! There are lots of soups available now that you can enjoy, check out the soup aisle at the grocery store. Also, I like to season different nuts. For Spicy Pecans: melt 3-4 tablespoons of butter in a skillet, add 2-3 tablespoons of Larwry's Seasoning Salt, toss with 2-3 cups of pecans until covered. Cool them down on a paper towel. Yummy snack. Also, playing worship music all day or letting God tv run has been helpful in keeping my mind off of the food and on Jesus. Joni

I am REALLY struggling with being soooo tired. I can barely function & I am getting a full 9 1/2 hours of sleep. Any suggestions??

I ditto Joni on the soup! I have been just getting an approved tomato soup (with none of the cream in it) and adding fresh veggies and letting it simmer for an hour or two, and it's really been good!!

As far as being tired, I really haven't run into that problem, but I know that carbs can make you crash, so if you are eating a lot of carbs (like potatoes) but not coupling it with protein (like nuts or something) then your blood sugar is going to go high and then crash really low and make you super tired. Protein is definitely essential to normal function on this fast! If you can find a glycemic index for food somewhere online, then the foods with the lower glycemic index are less likely to make you feel tired. Is it possible that your body is maybe trying to fight off sickness or something at the same time? That could definitely be making you tired...

I was going to say the same thing about the protein, Kim. Also B12 vitamin is for energy, I think. You could try taking some of that? We were at Central Market on Saturday (torture, ha) and were looking at the organic protein bars with fruit and nuts. Maybe having those for a snack would help.

Thank you for the suggestions. Unfortunately, I am a caffeine addict. :) I have been drinking protein shakes, nuts, vitamins, but nothing can replace that coffee. Today was the first day that I have felt better! It has been so worth it though. God has really been revealing himself to me.
